This might look like it came from a boat on Lake Michigan, but actually it came from the Adler Planetarium just after sunset.

We woke up very early before sunrise to set up at one of our favorite photo stops and the results speak for themselves. This is the light bathing the city roughly 20 minutes before sunrise.

We would have gotten the exact moment of sunrise, but if you look at the water, you might notice it is very choppy. A rogue wave threatened our cameras and we had to temporarily retreat. We got soaked, but our cameras survived. 

This was taken while on tour at the Willis Tour on a lovely May afternoon.
